Funny Thought of the Week…

We just received a book from China! It’s a large, 400 page hardcover illustrated book with captions in Chinese and English about the Westlake Expo of 1929 recently published. (Thank you to our friend Tongrun!)

Intermission…

This is just a quick intermission before the craziness starts again in the next few months… We’re excited about the Singapore Heritage Week Exhibit that is now going on and we encourage all our friends and family in Singapore to attend Dr. Julian Davison’s lecture on Art Deco Architecture in Singapore on August 3, 2013.

Liu Jipiao will be participating in Singapore's Heritage Weeks exhibit, "Lost Horizons: Art Deco Architecture of Singapore."

Lost Horizons: Art Deco Architecture of Singapore

We will be participating in an exhibit in Singapore! And since Gayook lived in Singapore for over 6 months, this exhibit is doubly exciting for her. It gives her a chance to share her father’s work with her Singaporean friends and family.

Exciting News!

We have exciting news! This past week, our friend Jeff Cody returned from Paris where he picked up our first purchase of Liu’s work.  We find it fitting because about a year and a half ago we met Jeff at the Getty Institute, Los Angeles.

One Year Cancer-Free!

Last year on June 7th, 2012 my mother Gayook went in for surgery to have 5″ malignant tumor that was sitting on her stomach removed. The technical term is GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor).  I am relieved and happy to report she is one year cancer free today, gaining weight and getting stronger!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mothers Day! I often think about legacy and carrying on the family name.  For most of my life it had been 3 generations of women on my mother’s side, my grandmother, my mother and myself.
