Jingdezhen: Study of Porcelain Design

When Liu Jipiao was a young boy his family lived in Jingdezhen, Kangxi Province- the “Porcelain Capitol” of China.  According to my grandfather, he was fascinated by the process in which the famous porcelain pottery was produced.

But most intriguing was the design floor.  And although this art is traditionally passed down from father to son, he was so persistent and talented that he was allowed to learn from the masters.

Later in life Liu sat down and wrote the following article describing in detail the factory, the porcelain making process and the designs.
