1949 - Automated Laundry

By 1949 he knew the Communist government was in place and he could not return to China, Liu looked for work. With no work available in NYC for non-English-speaking Chinese other than restaurant or laundry, Liu invested in one of the first automated laundry mats. (Upper East Side) The family lived close by on 85th Street between 3rd and Lexington Ave. He eventually owned another one in Flushing Queens.
