Migration – Circa 1970
“Migration” Oil Painting on Canvas Handmade Wooden Frame (Signed in English and Chinese)
29 x 25 Horizontal
Circa 1970
Charles Mason, curator of the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, CA viewed part of our collection and observed that this oil painting employs a scraping technique that achieves the flow and lightness of Asian Watercolors using the western medium. Charles noted that the only other examples he’s seen this technique employed were by 2 other Chinese artists who were also in Paris with Liu. This technique was employed by all 3 men later on, in different places in the world. We don’t think they were in communication with each other at the time this was painted.
